Login on the platform and choose among the host of services available to be digitally utilized. No more do you need to run from pillar to post when it comes to common issues registration. We all see but seldom do anything about it as we are afraid of wasting time on such running around.

The reason I thought of doing an article on this is when during a concern that we had faced in our surroundings. I happened to visit the local municipality office. The clerk there, as was the process, got me to register the issue on a register manually. I was not expecting much to happen honestly. Since other people had previously done similar complaint booking but the issue had not been sorted.

Well, it was not so - I came to understand! We as the citizens of India have a long traditional legacy of possibly, taking forward as baggage. The past many (or rather few) experiences of our parents and grandparents. The thought that the government is out there to only make money. Have a power trip and are least bothered about the general populace.

Well, to a certain extent that might be true - after all - what we sow so shall we reap. As the popular dialogue from one of the Bollywood movie goes. Itni Shiddat se maine tumhe paane ki koshish ki hai, ke har zarre ne mujhe tumse Milane ki saazish ki hai. Kehte hain ki… agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaaho to puri kayanat usey tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai. We asked the universe to give us a certain kind of people in our public life. And the universe granted us exactly those kinds - is what I am trying to infer by using this analogy.

Maybe the previous generations actually had this problem or maybe not! Maybe rather it was the problem of Belief and Reach! Belief that one person can't do anything to bring change. Reach being the fact that one specific person didn't have the reach to get heard. In current times we are in, our generation of the citizens of this country and those joining the current stream, every passing day and moment, are possibly way better placed then the previous lot.

Technology - its ease, its reach, its transparency, its accountability.

Everything that it brings to us - are actually helping us reach a different level. Come back to my experience - the reason for me writing this piece. Post having the complaint register entry being done on the manual register possibly in less than 20 minutes, by the time I reached my professional abode, I got an SMS of a complaint ticket having been raised for the problem I had noted on the register. Woah! Wow! Impressive. Honestly I was.

Since the SMS was of a certain kind, I decided to do some digging on it. What I found was a full-fledged portal which had been built by the GOG to facilitate all these things digitally. What was more interesting was that I could register myself as a user. And do these ticket generations at my own level without having to go out in the field. And there was no need go hunting for various governing departments to have my things taken care off.

The experience like that of a kid in wonderland

The experience here was like that of a kid getting a new toy to play with. So my trial started with the portal. Having register complaint with that specific ticket and then the ticket getting resolved within a defined turn around time (TAT). The feeling was now of pride. Of having got something achieved for the public at large and also in the fact that our country was moving on a good path. Governing authorities were getting responsive and responsible. There was lessening of the grey area. It was a far cry from the yester-generation feeling of disgust of having to beg for things to change.

A good start, I thought. Over the past many months at regular intervals I have had certain tickets booked. Those which were a concern to me personally with regards to the upkeep of common assets of the state that I used. While some were of the grander kind with benefits passing on to the public at large. How about an example possibly to get an understanding of the effective model that this platform provided? A right time to discuss at this juncture.

Our street on which our society resides at is in a manner the end of the municipal limits. For the past many months until ours was the only society things were quite pleasant. However over the period we saw new developments happening in the vicinity which lead to concerns. Not that all tickets were getting sorted on the first go itself. But to give the staff and the contractors with the authorities, their due, I must acknowledge the effort was visible. That is what counted. Since the effort was visible, my trust remained. With my trust remaining intact it only added more vigor to my efforts to raise the tickets wherever and whenever it deemed right to do so.

Over the past quarter or so I have had a fair number of tickets booked and a fairly high number getting sorted within TAT. With the exception of a couple that took multiple rounds of highlighting, but that's fine. Efforts matter and the fact that we see things moving. That works wonders on ones thought process. The result - our street has had the additional lights being installed. Once installed the faulty lines got them dead soon. However they got working again as soon as the ticket for same was booked. A structured cleaning drive done every time the ticket was registered and a lot more happening.


In essence currently only a handful of people are possibly aware of this facility. The objective of this piece is to highlight that you, yourself can be that small change you wish to see. The facilities are there like never before. The ease is there like never before. Raise this information to as many people that you believe will want to be the eye out for the authorities and register complaint.
